The book showcases photographs primarily taken in the 1970s and 1980s, highlighting the centre’s mission to improve the daily lives and diets of American soldiers.

From tackling logistical challenges to ensuring food safety and enhancing taste, the selection of photographs emphasizes innovative solutions that were developed to feed the troops, which, as in many other cases, also had diverse practical applications in civilian society.

This recipe-less cookbook offers a comprehensive view of the complex task of nourishing the world's most formidable military force, as well as the immense efforts and resources that have been dedicated to serving the military throughout history.
